Hi there,

I've made an "Quickinstall", but the cathegories are making an optical "mess", as you can see here: xxx (direct link deleted, cos problem solved and so not visible anymore)

overall it looks a little bit "empty" (no example pix). Maybe more went wrong during installation?

Thanks a lot for help in avance.

Mike

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.
It looks like the custom_css_xxx.css file was not generated on your server, probably, because the cache folder in your Joomla directory has wrong permissions (it does not let to drop a file there). Please verify the directory permissions on your server, you should have:
- 755 for folders
- 644 for files
More details:

Thanks for you quick reply.

My cache folders have writable-permission (777) as required in joomla "system-information" => "folder permissions".

You are right, in cache-folder is no "custom_css_xxx.css file".
I can set the cache folder back to 755, but will this solve the problem? What doing next to create that custom_css_xxx.css file ??

Thanx again :)

Hi,

It is not safe to use "777", so please change them to "755" immediately.
Once you set correct file permissions, then the file will be automatically cached after page refresh. If you will have any further issues with file permissions, you can contact your hosting support for more help regarding this issue.

Regards,
Marcin

Thanks a lot, but please let me understand: Beside any safety issues: If this file is not written at 777-permissions, why should this happen at 755 permission ?

anyway, I did what you have written: I have set joomla-cache-folder to 755, but the problem stays.

(by the way: my side is 2 hours old and still lot to install. When I am ready, I will set all back to 755)

Cheers, Mike :)

As recommended, I spoke with the support of my provider. They said, there is no logical reason, why something is not written at 777, but should do so at 755 permission.

BUT they supposed that CGI-Modus has to be switched on. And that was the solution. I post this for other users who may have this problem, too

Thanx.
