Hi,

I have forced ssl for entire site.
All was working fine, but yesterday I had one of my users complain that the site doesn't load correctly on IE & Chrome. He mentions it throws an exception on browser complaining about fonts.googleapis.com.
ie the fonts are not getting loaded over https, instead they are trying to load over http. (and since I enforce https, perhaps it runs into error)

I use the defaults that were available on the template which is :
fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans
'Open Sans', sans-serif

Googling tells me this is a known issue & one of the fixes mentioned is:
Change <l-ink href='http: //fonts.googleapis.com/... > to
<l-ink href='//fonts.googleapis.com/.. >
//as in remove the http bit & the browser will call the Google Font page in the applicable mode (HTTP vs HTTPS).
See the link: www.amixa.com/blog/2012/06/06/how-to-use...l-insecure-messages/

Before I start testing it out, would like to know your thoughts / suggestions on this.

Option 1) In the backend -Extensions |template manager |joomclassifieds default| Font settings
'Google Web Font Url' currently is http: //fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,600,700,800,800italic"
'Google Web Font Family' is 'Open Sans', sans-serif

Shall I change it to?
'Google Web Font Url' --> "//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,600,700,800,800italic" //dropping the http
"Google Web Font Family" is 'Open Sans', sans-serif //leaving this as it is currently

Option 2)
Would it help if I abandon using Google webfont & instead use the 'choose from list | Tahoma' option? Would this ensure it will not load http? And will this option increase the site speed (I'm aware google webfonts can have a performance penalty)

Any other suggestions that you might have?

Thanks in advance. Please reply asap, site is live now & I would like to have this resolved real quick :)

Thanks
Davis

Hello,
You can change URL to '//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,600,700,800,800italic' in all webfont.
It should working.

or just use HTTPS instead HTTP in webfont URL.

Best Regards.

Thank you mate.
I've made the change & asked the user to test it for me, so waiting to hear from him.

btw, once i took off the http & started with just //, the issue mentioned in below post looks to be resolved. All the sub headings under the respective adverts are now in bold :)
