Should I upgrade?

Hi,
I have a site I created 2 years ago running this theme and after abandoning it for a while, I have come back to refresh content, improve SEO and promote the site.

I originally made quite a lot of css and module position customizations in the site www.bgibarriers.com but when I look at what is needed to bring the backend up to date, I see that I must:
  1. Update the framework from 3.10.rc to 4 then recreate all my css customizations by hand.
  2. Update the template (currently on 1.02)
  3. Update DJ-Catalog from 3.4.1 to 3.5.4
  4. Update DJ-Mediatools from 2.0.5 to 2.6.1
  5. Update Falang that I setup to manage the multilingual aspects of DJ-Extensions from 1.4.2 to 2.5 and migrate translations.
I find this daunting and fraught with areas where I'll end up with lost data or lost customizations and see myself spending days getting the site back to where it is today if I start doing this upgrade process.

So my question is.... should I do this or should I simply say that since its not broken, why fix it?

Hi,

There are 2 main reasons why it is important to upgrade:
1) security - new releases of extensions may include some important security fixes
2) support - we provide technical support for the latest template versions. The same applies for extensions if you go to DJ-Extensions.com support.
Of course there are other advantages like some new features and functionality.

Regards,
Marcin
