Template not appearing after installing quickstart

I've worked on a small number of Joomla sites now without too much trouble, but that does not make me an expert by any means. I just tried installing this template from quickstart. I made sure to enable the 'install sample data' option during the installation, and I know the database connection/configuration is working as all of the tables were created as part of the installation process. However, I'm not seeing the template show up in the templates listing under the administration console, even though the appropriate template subdirectory and contents are on the server itself. I also made sure to install the DJCatalog2 extension/plugins. I had some trouble with that step initially due to a unable to create basedir issue (i.e. tmp directory). I changed the tmp folder location to 'tmp' and commented out a line in the configuration.php file related to initializing the basedir. That seemed to work as I was then able to install the DJCatalog2 plugins and they are enabled.

Can someone kindly lead me in the right direction? FYI this site is currently on Joomla version 2.5.9 with MySQL 5.1.49.

After I made the inquiry above, I realized I had not installed the EF3 framework plugin...so I did that and still the demo template was not appearing. I then renamed the appropriate template directory (the one originally created during the install of quickstart), and then installed and uploaded the fresh renewable energy template. At that point, I was finally able to see the fresh template in the listing, and made it the default template for the site. The template was then showing up and being used, but none of the demo content of course...so I copied all of the demo files from the originally created template folder into the new fresh template directory. Unfortunately, I am still not seeing the demo content.

Any advice?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.
First of all:
- the EF3 framework plugin is for Joomla 3.x templates
- the quickstart package should be installed in a separate folder on your FTP server, not in the existing Joomla installation or using the "Extension Manager"
Secondly, please watch carefully our video tutorial on how to install the quickstart package in this article:

Thanks for the reply Marcin. I just installed from quickstart again from scratch. Although I was sure I had the done so the first time, I must not have clicked the 'Install Sample Data' button during the Joomla install. Otherwise, the original steps I had taken were correct. Demo site is now up and running. Thanks for the help.
