Unable to Install Quickstart Properly

*Lost and Confused*

Okay, I know how to manually create a database via Dreamhost and obtain that information. When I did the OneClick via Dreamhost they sent me all of that information for the database they made for me. So I have that info as well. However, if need be I can start fresh.

What I guess I don't get the most is the configuration.php file. There was one included in the quickstart package and it never successfully uploads via ftp onto my site. You're suggesting that I edit it to read the details of my previous database so I'm guessing there is another Config.php file that I should see on my site somewhere, but I don't see one. I have a feeling I'm making this more confusing than it should be.

If I wipe the slate that is this site.. meaning no database and no remnants of the quickstart package and then create a new database as is done in the video tutorial, at that point when I ftp upload the quickstart files (including the config.php) will it work properly? That seems like a simpler way for me..

After re-reading your last post I think that is what you're telling me lol

If you've got all database details that are needed to install Joomla (quickstart) you are on the right way.

Forget about configuration.php file now.
I thought that the previous info will help, but it didn't.

Configuration.php is being generated during Joomla installation process. DO NOT upload any ready config files, the new configuration file will be generated after quickstart installation.

Once you've got database details, now:
1. delete all old Joomla files (including old configuration.php) - you don't need them
2. transfer quickstart files
3. run the site and install

Yes this is very simple. Good luck!

Tried this like ten times and kept getting the same results..

The issue was Dreamhost's webftp. It wasn't uploading everything from the quickinstall. Using Filezilla took like 100x longer, but when it was done it all worked heh.

Thanks for your help though!
