CTI created the topic: Unable to Install Quickstart Properly
Alright this is my first time trying this so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I have watched the how to video as well as read other guides for installing Joomla.

I'm using Dreamhost. I originally did the OneClick Install, but in order to use the quickistart I deleted that install. I left the database as from what I can see it should work (Possibly a mistake on my part)

So I download Quickstart
Unzip it
Login to WebFTP and drag the files in quickstart into my test subdomain where I want to have the site at. test.ccofhhi.com
When I drag them over they all upload properly, but one. Configuration.php. I get an error that says I must select a file and it doesn't show up in my test.ccofhhi.com. When I go to the site to initiated the installation I get
"Warning: require_once(/home/cortech1/test.ccofhhi.com/includes/defines.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: Not a directory in /home/cortech1/test.ccofhhi.com/index.php on line 19

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/cortech1/test.ccofhhi.com/includes/defines.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear') in /home/cortech1/test.ccofhhi.com/index.php on line 19"

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

You can use configuration.php that was created after "OneClick Install" to read database details only.
You will find the following details in the file:
database host name
database username
database password
database name

So you can use them to install quickstart. (in case you have problem to find that details in your server cpanel)

Then simply delete all from root folder and transfer all quickstart files on the server.

Then run the site to start Joomla installation process.
REMEMBER, click "install sample data" on 6th installation step.

Hope that helps.

Sorry I don't understand.

Should I delete the database I have? If you can be a little more specific.. I'm really new to this.

There are 2 ways:
1. you can create new database (database name) and use it for quickstart installation
2. you may use the current database (database name) but have to delete all sample data (that was created after OneClick Install)

Okay I think I get it, but let me confirm:

The easy way would be to delete the old database from the once click install. Then create a new database.
Then all I have to do is remove everything from test.ccofhhil.com (currently just an incomplete quick start) and then upload the quickstart files again. This time, the configuration.php file will upload properly?

Then when I go to the site the install should initiate properly?

Thanks for your help and patience. I just want to make sure I do it correctly..

It seems that you do not understand at all :)

I didin't say that you have to upload configuration.php file, I said that you may edit the file and read details of the previous database - that was created after OneClick Install.

OK, once again:
1. create new database
2. collect the following details:

database host name
database username
database password
database name

ps1. Most of them you may read in the old configuration.php file, I mean the one that was created after OneClick Install.
ps2. If you do not understand ps1 , have to look for details in your hosting cpanel or ask your hosting providers.

3. transfer quickstart files and start Joomla installation

Hope that helps :)
