Article Linking Question

I'm a little stumped on this issue. On my development site at silverconnection.cloudaccess.net/ I am trying to link an article to it's article page and remove a bunch of in-between links in the breadcrumb. If you select Read More in the New Arrivals article, you see that the link is index.php/using-joomla/extensions/components/content-component/article-categories/80-new-arrivals/35-new-arrivals. I understand this is controlled in Category Manager and what category the article has selected. When I create a new Category and have it link straight to that to display my New Arrivals content, it works as I want however the showcase item of Feature Items remains on the page along with the New Arrivals content, which I don't want to happen. So what I'm looking for in a roundabout way here is to link this article to something like index.php/new-arrivals and not have the showcase item carry over to it. Thanks.

Hi ,
Have you managed? as I see now the link from the top menu "new arrivals" has the silverconnection.cloudaccess.net/index.php/new-arrivals url so it's ok now? :)

Cheers!

Hi,
Not really, I'm still working on it. From the New Arrivals on the top horizontal nav, that is not the problem as that is going straight from the menu to a hikashop category module. As a matter of fact, this is exactly how I want the Read More link in the New Arrivals article below the showcase to work. You'll see I'm trying some thing out on this, for example in the page middle, I have the New Arrivals article and below that a New Arrivals module. I scaled the breadcrumb of the New Arrivals article down to where it will go straight to the New Arrivals content. However the snag is that this keeps the showcase Feature Items module displayed above the New Arrivals content.

If you go back to Home then select Read More in the New Arrivals module I just created (just below the identical article, article is black font header and module is the pink), then just like the main menu item, this works fine. But I have to use the same module styling for this which takes away the contrast that the articles give the page.

All in all, I'm trying to link that article to where it goes to the article content (New Arrivals) only and does not keep that showcase (Feature Items) content on it, if that makes sense.

Hi,
Hmm , I think you should try with some 3rd party SEF extension to achive that if I get that correctly.
Then you can control each link and it's appearance - try JoomSEF or sef404.
Cheers!
