We’re ending support for IE8.

| Andrzej Herzberg | News

We would like to inform you that our templates' support for Internet Explorer 8 will end starting from the next template JM-Startup that will be released at the end of April 2014. Here are some key aspects that brought us to this decision.

Firstly, Microsoft drops support for Windows XP, which means that Internet Explorer 8 will be no longer supported for this OS. However, it will be still supported for some newer versions of Windows (Vista SP2, 7), but who uses IE8 on Windows 7, when there is an easy way to update to IE10/11?

And, as you probably know, the problems with IE8 are severe and common – there are mainly issues with compatibility, but also those associated with IE8’s structure itself.

That is why it is no surprise that the usage of Internet Explorer 8 is very little and still dropping – oscillating around 6% worldwide now. This browser fails to support many features that other browsers do, allowing developers make better websites and apps.

That is why we are certain that by ending support for IE8 we will be able to concentrate our efforts on other, more needed development activities.
We also hope that the effects of this decision will prove to be so beneficial for our customers, that will compensate for any inconvenience.
